Gospel Choir...

So, the work is starting to come in thick and fast now, which is a fantastic feeling. The life of a photographer just keeps on getting better and I have already had some great shoots with some fantastic people.

Thursday night was no exception, as I was over at Barton Evangelical Church in Canterbury where a friend of mine , Phil Hornsey, has set up a new Gospel Choir. Phil has done an exceptional job as the group have only been together for 3 weeks and there are already 30 - 40 people attending the rehearsals, and they are sounding great!

Phil asked me to pop along and see if I could capture some of the atmosphere of the group and provide him with some images for their website (coming soon) and for any press releases, and of course I was more than happy to oblige. Here is one of the many images I took while the choir were rehearsing. To see a the full collection of images, you can visit http://rogc.co.uk.

I am now turning my attention to a few new projects that are in the pipeline, including some model shoots, some more corporate work, and of course putting in the prep work for the weddings we have coming up.

Thanks for reading. Catch you all soon.

Cheers

The Future Mr & Mrs Jeavons...

Sunday 23rd January saw us return to the wedding fold with a shoot out at Herne Bay in Kent with Dave and Laura, the future Mr & Mrs Jeavons. These engagement shoots are such a great way for us to get out and about with our clients and get to know them a little better before their big day, and it gives them a lovely collection of images in a location that is often very special to them........and we get to have a great laugh in the process!

Sunday was certainly no exception, as Dave and Laura were great sports and fantastic subjects to photograph. Often it takes a couple a little while to warm up to being in front of the camera (Especially on a beach in Herne Bay in mid January with what felt like a -5 wind chill factor!!) but these guys got straight into it and made our jobs so much easier. After we spent some time on the beach we headed out into the local woodland to get some more shots and thankfully the abundance of trees made for some good shelter and some interesting and varied locations for some great images.

A big thank you to Dave & Laura, we had a great day out with you guys and we cannot wait for the big day to role around. Your complete collection of images will be with you shortly, but in the mean time, here is a sneak peek.

Thanks for tuning in, see you all soon.

Michael Anders Headshots...

hotographer is going from strength to strength at the moment! Thanks to some great people that I have met through friends, family, work or through photography, I am being presented with some fantastic opportunities to really push myself as a photographer and try some completely new things to broaden my horizons and my portfolio.

One such opportunity came about recently through a now good friend of mine, actor Michael Anders. I met Mike through my girlfriend Alice, and a few days ago he called me saying he was in need of some new headshots and was more than happy to agree to my offer of 'having a go and seeing what I could do'.

On Saturday 15th January, after plenty of research and preparation (and any photographers out there who have dabbled in headshots will know just how much research and prep that is!) Mike and I headed out to Kearsney Abbey, on the outskirts of Dover, to find a suitable spot to get some great shots.

Fortunately for us, the rain that had been hanging around for the previous few days had ceased and this left a cloudy but bright sky above, perfect for an evenly-lit outdoor shoot. We managed to get all the images we needed within an hour, so we headed home to download and begin editing.

We had a great time out on the shoot, and I think this comes across in the final images, as I was able to give Mike a collection of natural and relaxed headshots. Mike was a brilliant subject and a very relaxed and patient model and this certainly helped to ease any pressure I was feeling and ensured we were able to produce a set of images that were very well received by both Mike's agent and Mike himself.

Thanks to Mike for the opportunity to shoot these images for him and I hope they lead to a lot more work for you! I certainly had a blast shooting them and look forward to the next one!

Thanks everyone for tuning in. See you next time.

The Weston Group

Being a photographer is great! You get to travel around, meet some great people, and be as creative as you can in new surroundings. You also have the opportunity to put a smile on someone's face by giving them a set of images that make them go "Wow, I like that!".......if we have done our job properly of course!

Yesterday our job was to capture the smiles of the team at www.thewestongroup.co.uk, a telecoms and communications company based up in Leeds. So, after a (very) early start, we jumped in the car and headed up to a cold and snowy Leeds to capture some new promotional images for Mike Isherwood, the company CEO.

After a quick chat and a large coffee, we cracked on with capturing the require images of their new equipment (see image attached), their demo suite and their happy and smiling staff. We were fortunate enough to have some very willing volunteers in the form of Steve, an engineer who didn't stop running around helping us out all day (thanks mate) and Stacey, who made for an excellent makeshift receptionist and hand model (thanks to you to!).

Walking around a busy office with a camera in hand is always a funny experience because, after only 20 seconds in a room, you can tell all the people with their heads down hard at work, and all the people pretending to be hard at work because they are petrified of the guy walking around with the camera! It never ceases to amaze me just how many people say "oh please don't photograph me, I am really not photogenic" or "I hate having my picture taken!". However, when you show them the shot you took 2 minutes ago when they were naturally just chatting and laughing with their friend or colleague, oblivious to the camera, all of a sudden they are not so scared! This is the benefit of the style of photography we choose to adopt, because we capture and document real life, not just a freeze-frame of people huddled together saying "cheese"!

Despite being very new to product photography, we had a great time yesterday with the guys up in Leeds. We would like to sincerely thank Mike, Darren and Michelle for the opportunity to come and spend the day with you and look forward to what we both hope is a long and mutually beneficial relationship. We would also like to thank everyone else at The Weston Group for your help and hospitality. We hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Cheers
